Hot QCD equation of state and relativistic heavy ion collisions

چکیده
We study two recently proposed equations of state (EOS) which are obtained from high temperature QCD, and show how they can be adapted to use them for making predictions for relativistic heavy ion collisions. The method involves extracting equilibrium distribution functions for quarks and gluons from the EOS, which in turn will allow a determination of the transport and other bulk properties of the quark gluon plasma. Simultaneously, the method also yields a quasi particle description of interacting quarks and gluons. The first EOS is perturbative in the QCD coupling constant and has contributions of O(g). The second EOS is an improvement over the first, with contributions upto O(gln( 1 g )); it incorporates the nonperturbative hard thermal contributions. The interaction effects are shown to be captured entirely by the effective chemical potentials for the gluons and the quarks, in both the cases. The chemical potential is seen to be highly sensitive to the EOS. As an application, we determine the screening lengths which are, indeed the most important diagnostics for QGP. The screening lengths are seen to behave drastically differently depending on the EOS considered., and yield, therefore, a way to distinguish the two equations of state in heavy ion collisions. keywords: Equation of state, distribution functions, Debye screening, QGP

Three-Fluid Simulations of Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collisions
Probing Equation of State (EoS) of QCD matter in relativistic heavy-ion collisions is still a fascinating problem inspiring new experimental projects [1]. Hydrodynamic models have an advantage that they directly address EoS of hot and dense nuclear matter, which is of prime interest for this domain of physics. We have developed 3D 3fluid relativistic hydrodynamic model [2, 3] for simulating hea...
متن کاملLattice Simulations of the Thermodynamics of Strongly Interacting Elementary Particles and the Exploration of New Phases of Matter in Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions
At high temperatures or densities matter formed by strongly interacting elementary particles (hadronic matter) is expected to undergo a transition to a new form of matter the quark gluon plasma in which elementary particles (quarks and gluons) are no longer confined inside hadrons but are free to propagate in a thermal medium much larger in extent than the typical size of a hadron. The transiti...
متن کاملModeling Magnetic Field in Heavy ion Collisions Using Two Different Nuclear Charge Density Distributions
By studying the properties of matter during heavy-ion collisions, a better understanding of the Quark-Gluon plasma is possible. One of the main areas of this study is the calculation of the magnetic field, particularly how the values of conductivity affects this field and how the field strength changes with proper time. In matching the theoretical calculations with results obtained in lab, two diffe...

متن کاملJet Tomography in the Forward Direction at RHIC
Hadron production at high-pT displays a strong suppression pattern in a wide rapidity region in heavy ion collisions at RHIC energies. This finding indicates the presence of strong final state effects for both transversally and longitudinally traveling partons, namely induced energy loss. We have developed a perturbative QCD based model to describe hadron production in pp collision, which can b...
